Nervously awaiting something
I worked on being on telly tonight. It’s
hard to say whether I’m more wound up at the thought that they’ve left what I
wrote in or cut it out. I’m
insufficiently high up anyone’s food chain to see previews (actually, I
probably could if I made a fuss but ‘assertive at work’ isn’t one of my
talents).
In an auto-didactic flurry
today, I bought The Rest is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century, which is probably doomed to sit next to
all my other ‘teach yourself’ books, unloved and unfinished. I only tell myself that twentieth century
classical music is a shameful hole in my education that must be plugged. Really, I just fancy having an exchange with
someone that goes, “What’s that terrible noise; is someone dismantling a
greenhouse?” “No, it’s just me dancing
to my Stockhausen records”.
If, like me, you’re just
sitting around anxiously, click here to listen to some Stockhausen being played
by three orchestras simultaneously. It
will suit your anxious mood.
If that’s not your bag, then
this evening’s ‘you’ve forgotten how good this is’ can be found here.
I'll stick to Brian Ferry thank you.
